Foods

FoodsIn Australia, food products do not have to be submitted to any government agency before they are supplied, but they must comply with the relevant standard of the Food Standards Code, which covers aspects such as ingredient safety, labelling and claims.

Australia and New Zealand have harmonised food regulations which are determined by Foods Standards Australia New Zealand (www.foodstandards.gov.au) (FSANZ).

NOTE: There is no category for ‘dietary supplement’ - nutritional or herbal supplements and remedies are most likely to be complementary medicines, which must be submitted to the TGA (ww.tga.gov.au) before they can be supplied.
