Proposal to reduce the minimum alcohol content for wine (3 May 2011)

FSANZ is considering a proposal submitted by the Winemakers Federation of Australia (WFA) to reduce the minimum alcohol content for wine and sparkling wine from 8% to 4.5% alc/vol.

Submissions regarding this proposal must be made by 6pm (Canberra time) 2 June 2011. The WFA is seeking to harmonise with the European Union standards to facilitate exports. Read here
